Myanmar (Burma) is one of the only prominent Asian countries with a rich and diverse culinary heritage that remains untapped in the Western world. The country’s keystone position in South East Asia provides for a fantastically varied yet unique cuisine with strong influences from India, Thailand and China. With the country swiftly emerging from decades of oppression, and with more international attention than ever before, Dan Anton (who has Burmese heritage) and Burmese Chef, Zaw Mahesh, have established Lahpet, with the ambition of making Burmese food popular and accessible.

We plan to bring Burmese cuisine to the fore by focusing on and refining those dishes that are ubiquitous across Myanmar. We will also be taking a more creative approach and exploring the use and pairing of a wide array of indigenous ingredients in order to offer our guests more innovative dishes – all executed with a touch of finesse and plenty of passion.

Building on our success at Maltby Street Market in 2016, Lahpet has now partnered with the Tuck Shop, a flexible work and events space by day and home to our kitchen residency by night.
