Benefacto is looking for a Community Manager to help them to inspire more professional people to volunteer.

About Benefacto:

Benefacto is a social enterprise with a simple mission: to get more professional people to volunteer.

11 million people in the UK get paid time off to volunteer at work, but hardly anyone uses it. Companies hire us to promote and encourage volunteering amongst their employees. In turn, we work to support small, local charities with a steady flow of reliable volunteers.

Your role:

The job of our community manager will be to will be to inspire more professional people to volunteer.

We already run frequent lunchtime events and presentations for our members, create quarterly marketing campaigns and send out newsletters – these are ready for you to inherit and put your stamp on.

But a greater proportion of your work will be to come up with new innovative, effective and measurable approaches to engage with our volunteer network.

You will have a direct impact on increasing the support that we can provide to the small charities that we work with in London and Manchester.

What do we need from you?

We don’t want to be too prescriptive, but we are looking for someone with lots of ideas and the gumption to bring them to life.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate they have at least two years’ of relevant experience at work they feel can be transferred to this role – although we’re open to what that experience might be.

It might be that you are experienced at building and engaging a community online; maybe you’re from a retail background with an interest in experiential marketing; you could be from charity fundraising.

Again, we don’t want to be too prescriptive, but our key criteria are that you:

• believe in the power of volunteering

• will bring transferable skills from previous experience

• are excited to generate your own ideas and the drive to turn them into action

• value working under your own steam whilst being a collaborative member of the Benefacto team

• are sociable, personable and would enjoy advocating volunteering to new people

• enjoy working towards and achieving targets

• have a strong level of tech literacy

• have existing skills (or an interest in learning new ones) in doing graphic design and using web-based marketing tools (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, MailChimp)

Where you come from, what you’ve studied (or not) and your charity sector experience are all by-the-by and we would really welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic candidates.

If you have a hunch – or even just an inkling – that you could fit the bill, get in touch via the details below; we’d love to have a chat about it.

Life at Benefacto

We have a big emphasis on our social enterprise being a fair, fun place to work with plenty of opportunities to learn new things. We want our work place to be somewhere people can be themselves and we’re trying to be innovative in our approach to work.

We encourage flexible working and independence, have a transparent pay framework and open-book accounting, and we find everyone an inspiring mentor to help them think about what comes next.

We also want to be really good at what we do, so we take our social mission very seriously, we’re an accredited B-Corp and we’re respected in the CSR world for being innovative, capable and disruptive.

We work above the Arts Theatre in Covent Garden. It has a lovely coffee shop: why don’t you pop us over a CV and we’ll get you over for a brew!
