Tech City was born six years ago with a mission to make London a tech destination. We connected the dots and created a flourishing ecosystem, helping to make London the global tech leader it is today. London is now Europe’s tech capital, and the envy of many tech hubs in helping entrepreneurs start and grow a digital business.

Three years ago we expanded our activities to the North and created a region of tech excellence across the North of England, with great success. Many of the pilots are now full-blown programmes we want to scale across key cities.

We are connected, trusted by entrepreneurs, with unrivalled expertise in catalysing growth in tech companies at different stages of their growth. Now we are stepping up a gear. With the government’s backing, we are taking this proven formula and building a national network across eleven regions, becoming Tech Nation in April 2018.

Our aim is to help accelerate the growth of promising digital businesses across the UK. We do this by focusing on three areas:

1. Business Lifecycle Programmes - such as Upscale, Future Fifty and Northern Starsthese help digital startups through every stage of their maturity – from seed to IPO or acquisition

2. Digital Skills Gap – we are closing the digital business skills gap by creating products and services – such as the Digital Business Academy and Tech Nation Visa

3. Thought Leadership & Advocacy – using data, intelligence and connections within the community, we are able to create reports and host events that mark us as thought leaders in creating digital ecosystems. Examples include Tech Nation and Tech North’s Founders Network
